One of the greatest benefits of our salvation is hearing God speak to us personally. There can be no intimate relationship with our heavenly Father without it. But as easy as it is for us to speak to God, many have a hard time hearing His voice.
Learning to clearly distinguish God’s voice is invaluable. It means that instead of going through life blindly, we can have the wisdom of God to guide and protect us. He is constantly speaking to us and giving us His direction.
Notice the radical statements Jesus makes in John 10:3-4, The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep recognize his voice and come to him. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice.
Jesus is saying My sheep know My voice. Not can or should but DO. I am convinced that our gracious heavenly Father is speaking to each of His children constantly giving all the guidance we need to overcome in life.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6)
