Your Kingdom Come
Sam Jackson - Rangeville Community Church

Jesus taught us to pray, ‘Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.’ This is a profound and far-reaching request! Our context means that we should pray, ‘Your will be done in Toowoomba as it is in heaven.’ But what does it look like when God’s kingdom comes on earth? In years gone by, the church might have called that ‘revival.’ A term being used across the globe today to describe this is a ‘city gospel movement.’ When God’s will is done in Toowoomba as it is in heaven, we should expect three things to happen, broadly speaking. First, more people coming to know Jesus personally and committing themselves to following Him. Second, the people of God in Toowoomba envisioning, and then working out the kingdom of God coming in their immediate context, be it their work, school, sport, or neighbourhood. Third, the issues of pain and injustice in our city will be seen and then responded to in tangible ways as God’s people are moved by His heart of compassion for those who suffer. So, next time you pray, ‘Your kingdom come, your will be done in Toowoomba as it is in heaven,’ be ready to be swept up in God’s good plans for our city!
