The Gift of Love

Well, another year is quickly drawing to a close and once again we wade into the crazy season of Christmas and other end of year events. Rather than slow down our world often gets more hectic as the year draws to a close. And with the busyness of life we can often lose sight of what is important during this season.

As we prepare to celebrate Christmas this year, welcoming or visiting family and friends, buying presents to express our love for each other I invite you to consider the greatest gift of love that we can give this Christmas.

The apostle Paul outlines this gift of love in Eph 5:1-2; Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

This Christmas the greatest gift you can give to your family and friends is a sacrificial act of love that points them to Jesus. Jesus, the one we celebrate at Christmas, who sacrificially and willingly laid down his life, so that we may have life, the greatest act of love we could receive this Christmas.
