Shaking Everything
Edgar Mayer - Living Grace Church

This has been a stressful year. Until March, we had bushfires that attracted the attention of the world and could be seen from space. Then, a virus came and affected everyone – all nations on earth. As one newspaper put it: “Mainstream Australians have lost their jobs, closed their businesses, worked from home, skipped the funerals of loved ones, abandoned Easter services, missed marching on Anzac Day, cancelled holidays, and the list goes on.”
God is not cruel but, on occasion, it is he that is shaking the world (by allowing things to happen). The Bible says: “For thus says the Lord of hosts: Yet once more, in a little while, I will shake the heavens and the earth… And I will shake all nations… ” (Haggai 2:6-7). The reason for the shaking is the “removal of things that are shaken—that is, things that have been made—in order that the things that cannot be shaken may remain” (Hebrews 12:27).
Is your world shaking? What falls away and what remains? What about your goals and life-plans? Have a look. It is stressful to live through the shaking but you may discover what cannot be shaken.
