Rest for your soul

Last Sunday, June 21, was the shortest day of the year. From now on we’ll see a little more sunlight each day. We have just struggled through the winter of Covid-19, and trust that we’re now heading in the right direction to enjoy better days. But there is so much more that appears to be wrong with our world: injustice, natural disasters, broken relationships, pride, and apathy. We can be left with a sense of hopelessness.

Jesus entered a world dominated by the rule of the Roman Empire. And in the midst of the evil all around, he demonstrated an inner peace and compassion for all – crowds were drawn to Him. Jesus enters into our evil world today and offers to us what He had. He said, “come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Whether darkness is all around, or you’re enjoying good days, God is with you and continues to be rest for your soul.
