As someone who lives on the south western outskirts of Toowoomba, I give thanks to the Lord for the recent rain. What once looked brown and lifeless, now is green and flourishing with life. It’s not because our whole community suddenly decided to put out some fertiliser, but simply because God has graciously sent rain to our region. When we see the life-transforming growth the rain gives to our land, I’m reminded that God (who sends the rain), says that the effect of the rain on the land is a visible illustration of the blessing and transformation his word brings to mankind.
Isaiah 55:10-11 says, “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it”.
Green grass is nice, but the flourishing of humanity is even more beautiful. Have you read God’s word lately?
