Keeping The Main Thing This Christmas

Ps Murray Holmes, Lead Pastor, Highlands Church - Highfields

Perhaps more than any other year, this Christmas has been one of confusion and unanswered questions…. Will I get to see my family this Christmas? Will the interstate borders open? Is it safe to travel? Should I get vaccinated? Will I get sick? Will I have a job next year? Amid these concerns, we are celebrating Christmas, a time where we reflect on the birth of Jesus, who was sent by God as our Saviour.

Over 600 years before the birth of Jesus, the prophet Isaiah foretold the coming of the Messiah in a passage of scripture that is just as relevant today as it was then. Despite the confusion and concern over what is going on around us, today we celebrate and put our trust in Jesus, who is the true hope of the world. ‘For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end.’ Isaiah 9:6-7 (NIV)

My prayer is that you know the hope that Jesus brings.
