He Holds the Future
Rev. Rodney Hall (Toowoomba Wesleyan Methodist Church)

You are on a holiday, blissfully ‘breaking away’, joyfully moving toward your proposed future goal, destination. The mind gradually clears as time slips by, the landscape changes the more km’s you travel to western Queensland. Part of a song continued to come into my mind over a 7 day period. I would sing as the strong head winds buffeted my body. ‘Because He lives, I can face tomorrow. Because He lives, all fear is gone. Because I know He holds the future, and life is worth the living just because He lives.’ I felt my mind refocus on the One who could take any situation and transform it. An emotion of gratitude would well up inside. Psalm 100:4 explains it. Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him and bless His Name. It can be easy to succumb to fear. However, when you call out and rely on God then He can change things, people and bring spiritual growth and maturity. On day 10 an event occurred where the full words of that song were sung by a large crowd. I was reminded afresh that God wants a ‘people’ to trust Him.
