Develop a Habit of Prayer
Rev Heather Hall (Toowoomba Wesleyan)

Having a hard time keeping your habits going? It’s been found that by Valentine’s Day 93% of our good intentions have finished. James Clear in his book ‘Atomic Habits’ says that “you don’t rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems” In other words, what you’ve put in place to achieve your goal is far more important than the goal. If you have the system in place, it will be inevitable that your goal will be reached. We’ve all enjoyed the Winter Olympics where every single athlete would’ve had the goal to win or do a PB. Their system would lead to their success.
Every successful person in the Bible was someone who had habits that led to their success. How did Daniel stand out in the Bible? He had a habit of prayer, 3 times a day, determined years earlier making a huge difference. Jesus, the most successful person to live, rose early with his habit of prayer, of drawing aside and seeking a relationship with His Heavenly Father. If these two successful people had a habit of prayer, even more so us. Go on, try it.
